This is my Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne Review from staying here just two weeks ago.
We stayed at the Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne for the Miami Open. The Miami Open is a huge tennis tournament they do on the Island every year.
My Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne Review
Since it was super busy, getting on the island was quite a hassle, but once we pulled up to the Ritz it made it all worth while. We’ve stayed at a lot of different Ritz’s including the number one in the world (Naples, FL) and this by far was one of my favorites.
As we entered the property we were greeted with Champagne flutes and a very friendly staff. When we went to check in the staff was friendly and was able to get us an upgrade. The floors are a beautiful marble and when you look straight through the entrance way you see the pool and Ocean views.
What really surprised me was the decor of this particular Ritz. All of the flower arrangements were fresh and huge, (absolutely gorgeous). The chandelier’s and furniture were beachy yet modern and extremely elegant. In a lot of Ritz’s we’ve stayed at, the decor has been outdated and you feel like you’re just paying for the name. However at the Key Biscayne Ritz the Decor is modern, classy and still gives you that beachy feel.
The pool had a very resort like appeal. It was nice that they had an adult section and a kid section so you could “get away” if you so choose. I loved how they had sand by the pool to create that tropical feel, and the bar and restaurant are very close by making a day of “fun in the sun” very doable. The beach is just a path away and was very private and inviting.
Not much negative in this Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne Review but I will say I was a little disappointed with the view when we got up to our room. They said “partial” ocean view, and it was extremely “partial.” You could only see the ocean if you walked out on your balcony, so that was pretty annoying. However the suite was gorgeous, and the staff and decor of the hotel made up for it. I suggest asking for a FULL Ocean view if you’re accustomed to beautiful scenery during your stay.
Restaurants near Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne
That night we ate at the Mexican restaurant on the beach. The ambiance reminded me of a resort we stayed in in Punta Cana, very tropical and had that sort of “escape” feel. The ambiance and staff was incredible. The food was very good, however be warned that the portions are probably not what you’re used to. It was very pricey and very small portions. Overall I think it’s worth going for the tables by the beach and tiki torches, however don’t go expecting a fantastic meal to fill you up. There were times at this restaurant that we had to wait quite a long time for our drinks and the bill, however that time of year they are extremely busy because of the tennis tournament. Depending on what time of year you go you may not have to wait.
Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne Restaurants
The next morning we ate at the Ritz Key Biscayne Buffet which was $30 per person. They had all the typical options; Omelette station, pancakes, waffles, fruit, meats, etc. however there wasn’t anything out of the ordinary or spectacular about it. For $30 per person you’re better off eating at a local diner down the road.
We also had room service a couple of different times. They were always extremely prompt and answered the phone right away with a smile. The food was definitely great, but again, pricey. However if you’re going to stay at a Ritz, especially in Miami expect to shell out some dough ;). We did a huge Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne discount of almost $700 due to our Travel club membership but it was still a good chunk of moolah (but worth it!).
There are Other Hotels in Key Biscayne Obviously
But, IF you can afford it, I would highly suggest the hotel Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne. Overall, this was one of my favorite Ritz properties. We’ve stayed at a ton of Ritz’s including one of the most popular, the Ritz Kapalua in Maui. The Ritz Key Biscayne had a certain elegance that most of the other properties don’t have and for that reason we highly recommend going and checking it out. There’s not much surrounding the property besides Downtown Key Biscayne, but if you’re looking for a relaxing beach resort and don’t mind driving a bit for a night on the town in South Beach, then this is the perfect place to go!
